the reason

Once a lovely lady named Ruth Niemhaus, who I met during my watercolour course in the US expressed her excitement for each of my elephant paintings to the extent that it made me smile: „You really seem to like elephants, dont you?“ And she looked at me and responded: „No, but your paintings of elephants make me love them.“ That moment my life made sense, because this is my reason to paint wildlife.

The overwhelming sadness and numbing feeling of helplessness our encounters with the poached elephants of Zambia left behind reveals to me once again my personal possibility and responsibility to take action: To paint them and let people connect to these incredible creatures through it.

Thank you, Ruth, you are part of this painting.
